For all his childish charms, David Arquette's final dalliance on the dance floor just didn't quite cut it. The "Scream" actor found himself in the bottom two with fellow weak link Nancy Grace Tuesday night, but it was a giggly Arquette who ultimately got the boot after pulling in the lowest scores of the week.
"This whole experience has been incredible," Arquette said after he and partner Kym learned their fate. "But there must be some mistake, because this is my show!" he joked, referring to Maks' pompous outburst from the previous week.
Arquette, who was a consistently low-scorer but who also brought genuine enthusiasm to the ballroom, beat out Grace in judges' scores Monday night, meaning that the actor failed to draw in a considerable number of audience votes. Earlier in the night, Grace was defensive when host Brooke Burke asked her if she was nervous about potentially going home.
"50/50 are pretty good odds, number one," she began. "Number two, it ain't over yet!"J.R. Martinez, who raked in uncharacteristically low scores Monday night, had similar sentiments after taking a tumble on the leaderboard. The way he expressed them, though, were a little more upbeat.
"I will never say never," he crooned with a nod to guest artist Justin Bieber. And neither, apparently, will Arquette, who said he hopes to continue dancing long after the show is over. "I learned a lot about myself, I faced my fears, and I gave America a chance to know me better," he said. "And I definitely learned how to dance."
