On Monday night, the five remaining celebrities took to the dance floor to perform two dances, one of those consisting of instant choreography. On Tuesday night, one more dancer exited the dance floor and we got our final four. Like every other previous episode, the show started with the judges picking their encore dance. This time it was the well deserved Tango of Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. I didn’t think it was possible, but they were even better the second time around.
Kirstie & Maks and Hines Ward & Kym Johnson were the first two couple finding out if they were heading home or to the semi-finals. I could not have imagined either couple actually going home. It was announced that Hines & Kym were going on to next week, and in a nice surprise twist Kirstie & Maks were also told they were dancing on to the semi finals. The always funny Dance Center was back last night. It is actually a good time filler that’s not worth fast forwarding through.
First up performing were Michael Bolton and Delta Goodrem. Everyone knows who Bolton is, but Goodrem isn’t as well known. However, a couple years ago she had a great performance on “Dave Letterman,” check her out on YouTube. Speaking of YouTube, also check out Bolton’s hilarious stint on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend! Is Adele up yet?
After the commercial break, host Tom Bergeron announced the most disappointing news of the night; Adele was not singing the classic song, “Natural Women.” Supposedly she is having problems with her high register so Goodrem stepped in with only hours of practice. As much as I wanted Adele, Goodrem really blew the roof off the song. I guess it wasn’t as devastating as it could have been.
Now it was Adele’s turn. I’m not sure what register she said she was having problems with, but you could not tell one single bit! I really hope the live performance of this song will shoot “Rolling in the Deep” to No. 1 on the billboard charts. It’s been stalling at No. 2 for the past couple weeks. Oh, and she better rest that voice cause I have tickets to her concert in a couple weeks!
Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas, Romeo & Chelsie Hightower and Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff were the last group to find out who was hanging up there dancing shoes. Ralph & Karina were the first announced in the bottom two along with Romeo & Chelsea.
So who was the unlucky couple? Romeo & Chelsea! I have to say I’m actually quite surprised. I thought maybe Ralph would get the sympathy vote, but I was hoping they would vote him off so he could get healthy again. Oh well, I think it’s safe to say that if Ralph doesn’t get better, he will be the next to go. It looks like it will be a very exciting semi-final!
