The Dancing on Ice semi-final was always going to be one of the highlights of the series, and it did not disappoint. Chloe Madeley took a tumble, Sam and Laura both attempted the head banger and Jason said Johnson could send viewers to sleep – lovely – but it certainly made for interesting viewing.
Chloe and Johnson ended up in the skate-off and the judges unanimously decided it was time for brave Beharry to be sent home, although they acknowledged his incredible achievement at coming so far.
As the audience, presenters and Johnson’s skating partner Jodeyne Higgins welled up, the war hero said: “No need to be sad I have had loads of fun.”Jodeyne told viewers: "Every moment I have been out there on the ice with this man has been truly inspirational."
Missed the action? Here’s a quick run down of the semi-final action… Chloe Madeley skated with Michael Zenezini to Firework (Katy Perry) and scored 21 out of 30. The pair landed flat on the ice at one point but Michael insisted that the fall was his fault, after his foot caught on Chloe’s skate.
Robin Cousins said: “It was really really good, you were both in your zone it was moving very very fast across the ice, as Frenchie said its’ just one of those things that happens. But you both got your composure back for the final spin which was as difficult as the chest lift that you were doing so well done for pulling it back together.
Jason Gardiner was not quite so complimentary, saying: “Well you know Chloe you are like a firework in that we never know what we’re going to get until you go off. Sometimes the nerves take over and things go wrong. That said I was looking at your finishing’s and I have to be honest with you tonight I just felt some of your legs and arm lines were not as clean as they should be for a semi finalist performance.”
Ooh if looks could kill Jason, you would be in trouble. Chloe’s doting parents, national treasures Richard and Judy, did not look happy.
Next up was Johnson Beharry and Jodeyne Higgins who skated to the annoyingly catchy L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. (Noah & The Whale) and scored 18.5 out of 30.
Emma Bunton said: “You’re so determined, I love that. Obviously after seeing what Chloe just did this was quite basic, but I think keeping it simple and clean for you is the best way to go.”
Jason, once again, didn’t hold back. “Johnson, how do I put it, if anybody was sleep deprived before that routine I certainly think they’d be cured of that now.” Has a way with words that man doesn’t he?
