The pleasures of dance and choreography come from strange sources. It is not without embarrassment that I report my recent delight in a male pole-dancing Pierrot in Cirque du Soleil’s “Banana Shpeel.” And I am somewhat shamefaced in mentioning my pleasure in the caged-birds number performed by the transvestite chorus in the current production of “La Cage aux Folles.” These rewards came from roaming around Broadway to watch the shows nominated for the Tony Award for best choreography, after which I wandered off to catch a couple of non-nominees. I don’t envy the Tony judges their task this year: there’s no clear winner. The nominees are “Come Fly Away” (at the Marquis Theater), “Fela!” (Eugene O’Neill Theater), “Promises, Promises” (Broadway Theater) and “La Cage aux Folles” (Longacre Theater).

“Come Fly Away” certainly wins for Most Choreography, but much of that, by Twyla Tharp (who also directed), strikes me as irksome. (If you were told these dances were made by a man, you might well find them misogynistic.
Kate Gosselin has revealed that the final week on Dancing With The Stars was her favourite memory of the experience.
The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star was eliminated in April alongside partner Tony Dovolani but returned to the dancefloor on the tenth season finale.
Writing on her TLC blog, she said: "Tony and I spent more time laughing and being somewhat disruptive to other couples' practices than we did actually practising, which may be why our dance was so funny to us the entire one minute and 25 seconds it lasted."
She continued to say that the couple "used much time visiting" the other celebrities who they had "missed" since their exit from the show.
"[We] knew this was our last chance to 'hang' with them as the cast of season ten in its entirety," she explained. "Sad, very sad that it's all over."
Gosselin - who previously described the experience as "life-changing" - added that the entire experience had been one that she "loved more than most".
The Pussycat Doll is now the "Dancing With the Stars" champ. Nicole Scherzinger and partner Derek Hough dominated throughout the 10th season of the hit ABC show and bested Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek to win the "Dancing" crown Tuesday night. "I feel like I just won a Grammy," she said after the show. "A dancing Grammy!"
Scherzinger performed a high-energy jive as her final dance that earned a perfect score of 30 and inspired head judge Len Goodman to say, "There can only be one winner of 'Dancing With the Stars.' It should be you."Lysacek's quickstep also earned the judges' praise, but just 28 points. "It's been such a blast," the champion figure skater said. "We are totally satisfied with everything we gave. We're so proud of Nicole and Derek. They deserve it. ... They inspired all the other couples in the competition.
Prepare to be enthralled when Shen Yun Performing Arts brings timeless culture to life. Audiences will have the unique opportunity to imagine what the last days of China's imperial past and the Qing Dynasty were like; experience the elegant ladies of the Manchurian court; or even go herding on Mongolia's plains and savour spring's fresh forsythia blossoms.

Based in New York, the troupe is a collection of leading Chinese artists who have come together to revive the best of traditional Chinese performing arts. Since their debut on Broadway in 2006, Shen Yun's three companies, each with its own full orchestra, have entertained in 100 cities worldwide.
Next Monday, the remaining ten Dancing with the Stars couples will take the floor with waltz, paso doble and quickstep routines that will each tell a story.
One of which (guess who!) will tell a story we know all too well.
Wanna know how the other stars are faring with their new routines? Plus: why is Brooke Burke spreading her own false pregnancy rumor? And are Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy dating?
It's all here, and then some, in this week's Dancing with the Stars news roundup: * Chad Ochocinco loves those latin dances. Jake Pavelka growls his quickstep into submission.
After two weeks on "Dancing With the Stars," Shannen Doherty is leaving the ballroom. The actress was the first celebrity eliminated from the new season of the hit ABC show.
She and professional partner Mark Ballas were axed during Tuesday's episode. "Dancing isn't really my thing," she said after learning her fate. "I did it for my dad."
The 38-year-old "Charmed" and "90210" star said on last week's season premiere that she joined the "Dancing" cast to honor her father.
The tenth season of the popular televised dance competition Dancing With the Stars has kicked off to a very promising start, bringing ABC record ratings, Entertainment Weekly informs. No less than 23.9 million people tuned in to see the premiere of the show, which has as contestants a very interesting mix of celebrities.

This year, stars from different areas of showbiz have been asked to participate in the show. These include Kate Gosselin from reality television, Pamela Anderson from glamour modeling and Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls from music (and dancing), to name just three from this year’s lineup. With such contestants and the hype that preceded the unveiling of the official lineup, it’s no wonder ratings have been so good.
Well, color me surprised. Bachelor Jake Pavelka doth not sucketh! While we had guessed the rose-giver would look about as comfortable as a snake in pantyhose on that dance floor, he seems to have fallen in love...with dancing! And doesn't look half bad doing it.

We just met up with Jake at rehearsals for season 10 of Dancing with the Stars, along with frontrunner (who insists she's not a frontrunner) Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, and a few others.
The new season of Dancing with the stars hasn't even begun, but there's already kate gosselin klutzdrama for Kate Gosselin's team! Kate's pro partner, Tony Dovolani, put it best when he reportedly said to his friends, “Kate is a klutz! She doesn’t listen and can’t take direction.”
Now that's funny! Did Tony Dovolani ever watch John and Kate Plus 8? It should have been pretty obvious to him that she likes to be in charge and isn't going to follow the instructions of someone else, even a professional. She's going to do things her way! It's Kate!
Many of the past celebrity contestants on the show have been models or sports figures. People that make a living with their bodies, by being graceful, by having immense control over their bodies. Kate doesn't have that type of background, her talent is human reproduction! And trust me, you don't have to be too coordinated to accomplish that.
